openRestore Ranboo's page Web Original
Let's Play.Ranboo was cut because of many tropes on the page that bring the creator troping and generally not following guidelines. Now, I have a few tropes that could come from his VTuber avatar, lore, and skits from his recent streams. I'll spend a while revamping and reworking it to keep up with recent times.
openShould we have a trope for this? Web Original
A lot of new Web Animations added here are one-shot manga anthologies featuring the same main characters in different situations. I'm talking AoHaru Manga Library, Manga Soprano, ATTAC Kon MIKA, things like that. If Object Shows already has its own page with a list of examples, why shouldn't these manga anthologies get one?
Edited by Eris250openFreeman's Mind's namespace Web Original
The Freeman's Mind is in the WebVideo/ namespace, but is described as a Machinima.
When the Machinima/ namespace was discontinued, I thought all these works were moved to WebAnimation/. Should Freeman's Mind be moved?
Same question as for the Leeroy Jenkins Video, in fact.
resolved Super Mario Odyssey: Hide and Seek Web Original
So I made a page for Super Mario Odyssey: Hide and Seek the other day, and then I thought of something. I was going to put the series into the FanWorks.Super Mario Bros page... only to be confused for quite a while, because the series itself is based on a mod for the game, so do I put it in ROM hacks or Web Video?
I have no idea.
Edit: I just realise that I thought about it too much, please ignore this.
Edited by NarioopenDeleting excess character pages Web Original
How do you deal with character pages that are bare bones apart from an image or Zero-Context Examples? Is it okay to get rid of them if they aren't fleshed out, or do you have to get approval?
I’ve brought the page I want to deal with (the overloaded Planet Dolan page) to the Character Page Cleanup thread, but I don’t know where else to go from there.
openChikn Nuggit and Weblinks in Examples Web Original
The Funny and Heartwarming Moments subpages for Chikn Nuggit feature examples that implement weblinks. Sadly, in numerous cases, this is at the expense of context. Each example should stand on its own; the reader shouldn't be expected to view every relevant short just so they can understand why something is silly or sweet. Such examples, as far as I know, are in violation of Weblinks Are Not Examples. Also, examples that do provide proper context make the weblinks redundant.
I've already commented out two examples on the Heartwarming subpage for blatantly lacking sufficient context, but I feel more in-depth cleanup may be in order and would appreciate any assistance. For instance, would a Short-Term Project thread help?
openSML ideas Web Original
If I want to make recap pages for SuperMarioLogan I have some ideas and questions. Most videos end with a question, can the SML question be put on the bottom or in the image which is the thumbnail?
A few videos changed the title from Mario to Jeffy's dad and Bowser to Junior’s dad. The reason is that the SML cast got a cease and desist letter from Nintendo where they can’t use those names. Should I use the original title or the current title? Examples are in these links: https://sml.fandom.com/wiki/Mario_Sells_Jeffy! https://sml.fandom.com/wiki/Bowser%27s_Change!
resolved Is this a valid example of Playing Against Type? Web Original
So someone added this to Etra chan saw it!:
- Playing Against Type: In this episode, Azami, who usually plays an Obnoxious In-Law, gets the role of the abused daughter-in-law and her usual role goes to Akane. Yuzuriha is also cast as a nerdy girl, which is usually Tsutsuji's role, and Tsutsuji herself gets Yuzuriha's usual role as a Crusading Lawyer.
As far as I know, the trope seems to cover only actors that play against what they're usually cast for, and don't include any in-universe examples. (For context, Etra chan saw it! has the characters as actors In-Universe).
Edited by mickey96openCaseoh page Web Original
I'm wondering if since he's starting to become popular, Caseoh can get a page. I mentioned him on Gentle Giants and so far that's the only Trope I have for him (I couldn't find a waifu trope for the Dolores bit, maybe Celeb Crush?), but it might become an edit war. I would like help creating a page.
Edited by RoseFuddopenUploading Images Web Original
How do I upload images from fandom? When I try to do that, TV Tropes says it can't upload files of this type.
openWMG on a real life person Web Original
I noticed that there's a WMG page for I'm Autistic, Now What? that's mainly speculating on Megan's personal life.
Anyone else find this uncomfortable?
openTroper with an Agenda Web Original
About a year and a half ago, I noticed that II Test Tube Fan had been editing the various subpages on Battle for Dream Island attempting to paint Two as if they were an irredeemable monster, despite the show not presenting them as such. This included adding a nondescript Complete Monster entry without going through the suggestion thread and editing out factual tropes on their character folder and replacing them with negative bias tropes. This had slowed down as of recent, but then I noticed them on the Image Suggestion Thread trying to suggest an image for the Nightmare Fuel page that's very nondescript and reliant on context, and with the context of the episode, it's still pushing an agenda against Two. Can they be reached out to about this repeated pattern?
Edited by RWBYraikou888openLinking external works? Web Original
If one were to add a quote or example from a fanfiction without a page on this site, is it ok to link the title to the fanfiction itself? Additionally, should the page of the original work be linked somewhere in the quote?

openVimeo Web Original
Today I learned that Platform.Vimeo has 164 wicks, even though it doesn't look like the page ever existed. Should someone make one, or should we just remove these wicks?
openUnexplained Deletions going on in the Inanimate Insanity character page Web Original
clonniecloo has been deleting a multitude of entries in the character page for Inanimate Insanity and no reasons have been given. I've also noticed that these all revolve around the character Cabby. Should this be a concern to acknowledge?
Edited by RedBerryBlueCherryresolved Web Video series in Creator Namespace Web Original
I came across the page Josh Scorcher, which (putting aside some cleanup with regards to a since-removed ROCEJ wick, some real-life troping and misuse that I've already noticed) seems like it's more suited to the Web Video namespace than Creator, particularly with how it already has several subpages that Creator pages are only allowed to have for tropes regarding their works (such as a YMMV page).
I'm guessing that moving the namespace requires copying the content on Creator/ over to Web Video/ and then cutlisting the Creator/ copy, but the page has got so large that I don't want to immediately jump to doing so without fully knowing what I'm doing. What is normally done in this situation?
Edited by Akriloth2160openWork page that misrepresents/sanitizes creator Web Original
WebVideo.Overlord DVD is... weird.
From the page's description and tropes, it sounds like a campy, skit-based review show. It is instead, by and large, someone spouting up complaints, made up rumors, and outright lies about properties he doesn't like with the framing device of being a supervillain.
I do think it's tropeable to some extent in that the lore and theatricality is there, but completely glossing over the fact that the videos are just straight "news" and primarily exist to promote a culture war is weird.
I brought it up in the Works that Promote Bigotry Thread but I thought I'd post it here since A: That thread is very slow and B: the issue of a work being misrepresented may be a broader discussion.
Edited by LarkmarnopenNorms around article subject changing medium Web Original
A few years ago, I made a page for my work RealmMeshReality. I then proceeded to fall off of TV Tropes, during which time I converted RMR into a book. I now have a few questions. The ones I can think of now (which may be all of them) are:
- Does it belong at Literature/RealmMeshReality now, and if so, how do I move it there?
- What's the usual protocol on mentioning this in the lede (e.g. "In 2022, he converted this into a book like so")?
- The move from a wiki into a book also involved an adjustment of the canon. Consequently, an estimated ~20 of the tropes now pertain at least partially to now non-canonical content. Is there a general protocol on how that affects the article's content (no mention of the Retcon, brief mention in the lede, splitting into canon/non-canon sub-folders, etc.)?
I was curious on what the policy is for editing pages based on fanfics you've created. I heard something from a friend that it's usually something to steer away from as far as avoiding personal bias or tooting your own horn. Just wanted to check if that's true or not.
The page I'm talking about is one of my own called Ultimate Sonic Fighter and wanted to check if there was any kind of policy on the original author editing any pages based on their own works.
